How to treat razor burn

The shaving process can aggravate your skin and leave you with painful razor burn. Common causes of razor burn are irritation from soap or shaving cream, dry shaving, using a dull razor, or pressing too hard while shaving. Be sure to use short strokes while shaving, and always use a clean and sharp razor. If you do get razor burn, rinse the area with cool water and apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream if the irritation is severe. Remember to consult your dermatologist if you have any questions or concerns about your skin. This information is brought to you by The Doctors Prescription for Health, sponsored by CVS/pharmacy.
